Can you believe that in the early days of computing, it was believe that no one would be interested in listening to music on a computer? Time proved those people wrong and the computer can now be used to replace a whole bunch of other stuff. For example it can replace your radio, by letting you listen to online radio stations. And it can replace your mp3 player as well. It can also replace your TV, DVD player, video game console, even landline phone.

Let’s focus on music alone. Chances are that if you like to listen to music on your computer, you have quite a large collection of mp3s – and you need a way to manage them all. Software to the rescue – to be more precise, a specialized piece of software called MP3-Boss that works just as fast if you have a couple hundred mp3 files as well as if you have tens of thousands of mp3 files.

This OPAL Network-developed application weighs in at 20MB. The download will complete in a relatively short amount of time on a high speed internet connection. On a more sluggish connection, the download might take a while, but I think it’s worth it if you want to take advantage of all the functionality this piece of software has to offer.

This application can do a lot, quite a lot, so I am going to list the things I found to be more interesting:
- Rename, copy, move, delete and all the regular tasks you need to manage your music collection.
- Filter your music collection to play just songs from a particular artist.
- Easily search through your collection for a particular item.
- Rate songs
- Audio-review function lets you quickly listen to a portion of a song, so you can then rate it.
- Integrated Winamp support
- Automatically scans for MP3 and WAV tags.
- Locate partial of full duplicates
- Create CD label inserts

There isn’t much else to say about this piece of software – it is an application that works fast and provides a ton of features.
